The 10 Best Alkaline Foods to Revitalize Your Diet

The 10 Best Alkaline Foods to Revitalize Your Diet

Reviewed by Pablo Medina, Herbalist

In a world where our diets often lean toward acid-forming meals, it's time to tap into nature’s secret weapon: alkaline foods. These vibrant, nutrient-packed options not only balance your body’s pH but also add a burst of flavor and energy to every bite.

"Real Soul food is food that enhances the Soul, our central Sun, our melanin, our carbon. Fruits, vegetables, grains, this is REAL food." -Dr. Sebi

Benefits of Alkaline Foods

So many people are addicted to toxic processed foods that increase their risk of chronic health issues. Dr. Sebi taught us that the cause of all diseases is mucus and accumulation of acid in the body. So how do you ensure your body is healthy? Alkalize it!

Dr. Sebi’s Nutritional Guide is a list of foods that provide the body with an alkaline environment for healing and optimum health. The foods on the list are natural and organic from Mother Nature to meet all the body’s nutritional needs, with readily absorbable minerals and nutrients you need to thrive.

Alkaline foods support the correct acid-base balance of the body. They prevent the toxic build up of acids which cause mucus. Alkaline foods are also nutrient-dense, nourish the body and reduce the inflammation that can damage your health.

"It is the food that you eat that would reconnect you with the energies of life, and then words are unnecessary because you could see. You’re connected." -Dr. Sebi

Try These 10 Alkaline Foods

Having a cardiovascular disease, I have struggled with anemia for most of my life. Moreover, I struggled with constipation which medications could not fix. These alkaline foods have been hand-picked to meet my specific needs. Maybe some of your favorites are here too?

1. Cucumbers

Cucumbers have a high fluid content helping you meet your hydration needs. They are also high in potassium and magnesium, two minerals most people are lacking! If you struggle with bad breath, this is just the vegetable for you. Naturally anti-bacterial, cucumber will help your breath smell fresh for longer.

Do you want to know the best part of the spa day? The cucumbers over your eyes! They contain natural chemicals that nourish the skin and reduce irritation and inflammation. They're the secret weapon behind glowing skin!

Recommended recipe: Asian Cucumber Salad

2. Raisins

Raisins from seeded grapes are high-calorie and naturally sweet treats with many nutritional benefits. These include antioxidant properties, rich in calcium for strong bones and teeth, and rich in iron which is critical in blood formation. If reading this has you salivating, try them in Dr. Sebi’s Baked Pears and let us know how good it is.

Recommended recipe: Alkaline-Electric Spelt Meal Raisin Cookies

3. Mango

A fruit that has it all: mango! This “king of fruit” doesn’t need hyping, it speaks (or tastes) for itself. The best part is you can never go wrong with a mango: slice it, chop it, blend it, you name it!

Other than their rich and juicy flavor, mangoes have a ton of benefits, including improving your immunity. The nutrients it contains enhance the production of white blood cells that play a key role in fighting infections.

Mangoes also help with blood sugar regulation. They contain antioxidants, fibers, and other components that improve your response to carbohydrates. Mother nature at its best!

Recommended recipe: Mango Salad

4. Avocado

One of the best things about avocados is that they contain heart-healthy fatty acids (good fats). Low in sugar, and high in fiber and potassium, avocados can be eaten in any form or way. The high fat and nutrient content makes them naturally satisfying, and even calming, reducing anxious thoughts.

Recommended recipe: Baked Avocado With Salsa and Sides

5. Apples (Baldwin)

An apple a day keeps the doctor away! These delicious treats are good for the heart, promote gut health, and are also good for your teeth. In addition, they can be a good weight loss and maintenance food because they're high in fiber and water, which are great for satiety. Make yourself an apple smoothie in the morning to fill your day with energy.

Recommended recipe: Apple-Coconut Green Smoothie

6. Tomatoes (Cherry and Plum only)

This is an ingredient that doesn’t miss in any kitchen. They are rich in antioxidants, low in calories, and potassium, and contain lycopene that has potent anti-inflammatory action reducing risks of cancer and heart diseases.

Tomatoes are one of the few foods that seem to be more nutritionally accessible when cooked, specifically that anti-inflammatory lycopene.

Recommended recipe: Healing Tomato Soup

7. Walnuts

Some of the benefits of walnuts include improved brain function, reduced risks of cancer and heart disease, and is rich in antioxidants that may help reduce inflammation.

Walnuts can also be made into a delicious creamy milk which when sweetened with dates is an incredible nutritional treat. Mood- and mind-boosting!

Recommended recipe: Homemade Walnut Butter

8. Tamarind

The tamarind is a signature fruit on the Coast of Kenya. Tamarind water is a go-to beverage on a hot sunny afternoon. Other than being refreshing, it's packed with anti-inflammatory properties that protect against inflammatory conditions. It is also one of the best foods for removing unwanted substances, like fluoride, from the pineal gland

Recommended recipe: Fresh Tamarind Water

9. Zucchini

The star of one of Dr. Sebi’s popular recipes, the Zucchini Boat, this vegetable is approved by Dr. Sebi it's high in antioxidants, good for digestion, and rich in nutrients like manganese, potassium, and protein.

My of the best way to eat the zucchini is as noodles, or zoodles. They soak up delicious flavors and act like spaghetti with a lush tomato sauce. They are a game changer in replicating a range of Italian dishes, and fun to make too. Spiralize a zoodle, or get the kids to have a go!

Recommended recipe: Zucchini Stuffed with Amaranth

10. Bell Peppers

Need another reason to love salads? Whether raw or stir-fried, the burst of colors bell peppers livens up any meal. They're an excellent source of potassium, and they're composed of 92% water making them good for hydration. In addition, they contain iron, folate, and fiber.

Green bell peppers are usually bitter and the red ones are sweeter. Which one is your favorite? They are great for stuffing with wild rice and herbs to make a delicious and nutritious meal that is satisfying on all levels.

Recommended recipe: Roasted Red Pepper Curry

The only oneI haven’t tried is tamarind. I love all the ones on this list. I didn’t take care of my teeth, so most foods I eat are soft. I was given 6 months if I didn’t start taking medication for breast cancer. This is my 2nd round with cancer. It’s spreading to my bones and liver. Diabetes, high blood pressure, lymphedema, overweight, and a blood clot in my lungs are my other health issues. It’s by God’s design that I’m still here. I’ve always wanted to come to Osha Village. I love Dr Sebi’s heart to help others naturally. Be Blessed.
